"Some people really feel uncomfortable around women who don't hate themselves. So that's why you need to be a little bit brave." |

Hello There! My journey through geekdom started further back than I can remember. I'm pretty sure I soaked up the knowledge of Peter Parker being Spider-Man and Clark Kent Superman in utero-- I don't remember ever learning these things, I just always knew. As a kid, I collected volumes Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, The Far Side, and Shel Silverstein, not to mention following the daily comic strips in the local newspaper. Growing up, my sister and I obsessively tracked down and collected countless Breyer Horse models. Looking back, these were the beginnings of a healthy love of all things "nerd". It wouldn't be until my teens that I really started getting into traditional format comic books. A band I loved at the time was really big into comic books and even dabbled in writing some of their own. As an impressionable goth kid, I had to know EVERYTHING. Turns out, comics are a world I really love to live in, and I've been trying to make them an integral part of my life ever since. The strip comic collected editions now share their shelves with volumes of capes and indie comic books; the Breyers have been replaced with shelves of Marvel Legends and DC Icons figures (JK, the Breyers are safe and sound in my childhood bedroom still). I live my life through a geek colored lenses, and don't plan on changing that anytime soon. EDUCATION
