Previous episodes (through fall 2023) are still available wherever podcasts stream, and all the podcast notes are still hosted on the blog archives here. Bur for the time being, and due to an abundance of reasons, Yancy Street needs it's regulars to be involved to survive, and so it became an online community. Still run by the She-Geek, the discord features weekly comic book reviews and pull lists, plus discussion of current geek events, shows, and more! It's everything from the podcast, in community server format. Join us! Open for discussions of whatever interests you! Currently including all things comic books, plus film, television, and other media, relevant current events, recommendations and reviews, and more!

PURGATORI! Character Reading Summaries
It's currently March, and I find myself overly excited with my new Halloween Special idea: Purgatori and the Legacy of the Chaos Heavy Hitters!
My first ever issue of Purgatori read was only this January 2023, with the first issue of Dynamite's Purgatori Must Die! And I was smitten like bitten at the first few pages. Dynamite, especially their hard core female characters, have a hard time being taken seriously, and I find they have a hard time finding their footing as just good, enjoyable comics. This....was not the case with Purgatori.
By now, I've read and summarized ALL of her modern appearances under Dynamite, and am actually ITCHING to do more research on her and her buddies. That podcast special this Halloween is gonna be one for the history books, for sure, but for now--enjoy her modern reading summaries! Collecting Vampirella v Purgatori, Purgatori v2, and Purgatori Must Die! (2021-2023, all by Ray Fawkes and the brilliant Alvaro Sarraseca!

Jessica Cruz: DC Comics Reading OrderThis page is another Work In Progress, but it should be coming together pretty quickly as Jess is my chosen September Yancy Street Comics Special! Which....I will post when I catch-up in December. Whoops!
Jessica is technically the first DC character I'm putting together a reading order for, and the first who will have a Special podcast dedicated to her. She's also the first official character of color I've highlighted in a Special, which I feel confident covering, because I've been keeping up with her appearances since Day One of her in the DC Universe. Jessica is a very important character to me, for a myriad of reasons, and I'm excited to share her with you all! Right now, I have her reading order finished and the appearance summaries completed through her time as Power Ring, and am excitedly working on the rest! Tune back in soon for more Jessica Cruz, and be sure to listen to her Springtime Yancy Street Special! |
Satana: the Devil's Daughter
|
Including, but SO not limited to, her ENTIRE character chronology, over 30 unique and credited images of Madelyne covering both official appearances and fanart, information on Krakoa and Clones, the Inferno event/s, links to listen to her Special Edition Podcast Episode, and more!

Patsy Walker has been in comic books since 1944, predating Iron Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and many others.
Please be advised of the Content Warning on this one-- Patsy is called the "Happy-Go-Lucky Hellcat" in the same way that Robin Williams was known to be a comedian. |
Female Heroes Taking Back Their PowerMy discussion of the positive character developments for Jen Walters and Carol Danvers, starting decidedly post-Civil War II.
|
A Note on Clea of the FaltineMy response to a sexist "hot take" on Clea's character, and how it was a limiting and generally poor message to send about her.
|
A Note on Female FuriesMy response to an alarmingly "whoosh" take on the Cecil Castellucci/Adriana Melo series.
