This week's Friday New Comic Book Day Discussions include talk on the last issues of DC Future State, Marvel's King in Black and Reign of X, and indie titles including Monstress!
After covering my favorite parts of this week's comics, there's more talk on Marvel's and Disney+ programs and upcoming films, including brief additional thoughts on WandaVision, Kevin Feige's recent Q+A session, Loki and Bad Batch show release dates, and the new official name for Spider-Man 3: No Way Home! On the other end of Superhero Cinema News Spectrum, we have the first look at Titans on HBO Max's Blackfire in full costume, plus the breaking news announcement of a Superman movie being written by Ta Nahisi Coates and produced by JJ Abrams! I'll be back Monday MARCH 1st to discuss episode eight of WandaVision, premiering today! Meanwhile, you can catch up on my thoughts on theories on "A" episodes of this podcast! Ep.6A: WandaVision's Agatha Unleased! Ep7 Recap & Theories PLUS NCBD Representation + More!2/22/2021
Since it's Monday, I'm talking A LOT about WandaVision episode 7--and what an episode it was! Monica's powers, Darcy filling in Vision, the unravelling of the Hex, and of course the long-awaited reveal of Agatha Harkness! What is she up to? I've got so many thoughts to share! (about 40 minutes worth!)
Then for this week's New Comic Book Day, I spotlight some of the comics that stand for excellent representation of characters and creators of color, LGBTQ+/Queer topics, and/or women in comics, the generally more marginalized groups of this industry. Plus, I include a brief explanation of the upcoming "Fine Art" Black Black Panther variants, and a general run-down on what else I'm excited for this week in new comics! More MCU and DCEU film and TV casting announcements from the week are followed by what's becoming a regular segment on Zack Snyder's continuing Justice League pre-promotion, all wrapped up with a note on the Fantastic Four rumors and Hasbro's continued action figure flailing. I'll be back this Friday, Feb. 26th for discussion and review of this week's New Comic Books! These episodes are getting progressively longer...What can I say? It's a great time to be a nerd, and it's an excellent era to try new comics! Stay sweaty!

Good Friday, everyone! There was a lot to talk about from New Comic Releases this week, including Future State titles, King in Black, Black Widow, indie comics, Throg's background explained, and remember to check out episode 5A for an explanation on Batman/Catwoman and their relationship if you're at all lost or curious about how we got to this point in issue #3!
News and announcements continue to pour out of the industry, so in the comics and geek-media segments I talk about some miscellaneous Zack Snyder VS DC/Warner projects, Disney's Cruella and the Mortal Kombat trailers, some Multiverse of Madness news and theories, and then finally--the Spawn Universe! I'm thrilled to be excited about this new Image project, listen to find out why! The next episode will be MONDAY, Feb. 22nd, where I will be discussing this week's WandaVision episode in depth, plus what I'm looking forward to in comics next week! Stay Sweaty!

At long last, it's here! I'll be keeping up with review of Bat/Cat as the 12-issue series goes on, so keep checking back for more discussion after each issue premeres! I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite series' of the year, and it's going to have a lot to talk about. Continue Reading for more on Batman/Catwoman!
Happy Monday! Today I'm talking thoughts and theories on WandaVision's sixth episode, and there is a LOT to cover! From Pietro to Monica's "contact," the episode is fully discussed here.
Afterwards, I talk about Zack Snyder's Justice League, which had its "first" trailer yesterday, which in turn made it even more relevant to talk about the ongoing scandals surrounding writer/director Joss Whedon, who took over the original Justice League project after Snyder stepped away. Plus, in preemption to Batman/Catwoman #3 (of 12) tomorrow, I walk through Tom King's love story for the two DC characters, explaining the history as he's laid it out, how it relates to what's happening in the current series, and breaking down my thoughts and theories on the series so far. Finally, a note of explanation on the term "sweaty" and it's originator, Jon Schnepp, and some brief discussion on what I'm looking forward to in new comics this week. There's always a lot to talk about in this industry, so hour-long episodes might become the new norm...

DC FUTURE STATE REVIEWS!2/8/2021 While I'm not reviewing--or reading--ALL the Future State titles, I am reviewing at least one each week, so I'm collecting them all together here, in an easy space to access them at once! And don't forget, my main "pulls and picks" (lists) from here will be more or less covered in my podcast, which can be found on PodBean, Youtube, or Apple Podcasts! Check out the links on this new site page for the Live from Yancy Street listening hub!
Welcome Back to a longer-than-usual episode! Today I'm discussing comics in pop culture, including WandaVision ep.5, the Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer, Spider-Man 3 rumors, and a couple of current shows based off "indie" comics.
Then, bringing it back around to actual comic books, I talk about the comic releases I'm most excited for this week, including Marvel, indie, and DC Future State titles, and spotlighting a few key moments of representation in the industry. Wrap it all up with a note on Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey and the new Heroes Reborn launch at Marvel! Let me know what your thoughts are, and hope to see you back for the next episode, FRIDAY Feb. 12th!

This is the only review I wrote for the week of February 2nd-3rd's releases, and Luna was easily my pick of the week across all publishers. For reasons I talk about in the review, I was completely blown away, and can't stress enough how much I'm looking forward to the rest of this series. High-Concept stories are often difficult to pull off in comics, and Llovet is off to a remarkable start. I can't recommend Luna enough! In other news, expect some mild restructuring in the way I do my posts here. As you probably know, I recently started a podcast version of this very blog, called Sensational She-Geek Live from Yancy Street (Yancy St. being a reference to the location of the Fantastic Four's headquarters, the Baxter Building). While writing has been a passion of mine my whole life, and this blog has been an excellent outlet for that, I've now realized that working on the podcast is more manageable for my free time. Where a blog post might take several days to write up, the podcast comes together from the past several days' thoughts on comics and comics culture, can be organized in under an hour, recorded in the same time, then posted in another hour. To sum up: It's easier, more natural to create, and has far more views than my standard blog post. So, I'm letting the blog writing take back seat so I can focus more on the blog, and on my own personal writing projects. Let me know what you think! In the meantime, Continue Reading for the discussion on Luna #1!
Talking about my favorite comics from this week's releases, including the premier of LUNA by Maria Llovet, Future State: Wonder Woman, Far Sector, Return of the Valkyries, and others! Also discussing the future of Joelle Jones' Yara Flor as Wonder Girl, one of my favorite colorists, so-many-Sonjas, Jen Bartel's Women's History Month covers, & other comics I'm reading.
Be back MONDAY 2/8/21 for more Comics and Culture, including WandaVision, Snowpiercer, spotlights on representation, etc! (psst, Continue Reading for my podcast notes!)
Hiya! I'm back for a MONDAY Comics Culture episode featuring my reaction to WandaVision episode 4, brief breaking news on the world of Black Panther, DC's Infinite Frontier which will follow Future State, why the X-Men vote went kinda wrong, Snowpiercer on TNT, all kinds of new indie #1's, spotlights on representation in this week's comics, and more!
Next episode is FRIDAY 2/5/2021, discussing what I loved (or didn't) from this week's new comics!
Podcast Notes are available after the jump!
