Happy Friday! This Friday episode starts with the usual weekly comic book pick list, and boy did we have some great picks! I mostly discuss Homesick Pilot #6, Harley Quinn #4, and Batman: Reptilian #1, but also touch on Silk, Captain Marvel, Marvel Voices Pride, and some others!
After the picks, we go straight into this week's third episode of Loki. It was a very different watching experience than the previous two, and not necessarily in good ways. But we did learn some integral information about the TVA and our cast of characters, and I discuss all the speculation as well! After a brief mention of Superman and Lois, I discuss the new trailers for The Suicide Squad and Shang Chi! I'm excited for both movies, for totally different reasons. And since Shang-Chi has such an involved world it's tying into, there are a lot of Easter eggs to be on the lookout for! Finally, this week's podcasts wrap up with the news of a new era for the Amazing Spider-Man, complete with some major switch-ups, including the return of Ben Reilly! There's a whole new set of creatives on these new projects, so if you're a fan of Spider-Man, you'll want to stay in the loop! I'll be back for a new episode this coming Monday, June 28th, where I'll discuss the coming week's comic book pull list, tonight's episode of the Bad Batch, and whatever other news or speculation rears it's head between now and then! In the meantime, stay cool this hot summer; hydrate, hippies; practice empathy; get sweaty about comics! Happy Friday to you all! As Loki episode 2 premiered on Wednesday, this "A" episode starts with my discussion of it! There are some interesting theories to unpack, so check it out!
Then there's the comic book pick list, going over my favorite things from this week's comics! The list this week includes The Mighty Valkyries, the Many Deaths of Laila Starr, Luna, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Sonjaversal, Planet Size X-Men, and of course, Demon Days: Mariko. I love how female-forward this weeks reads were! I only have a few comments to make on the latest episode of Superman and Lois, unfortunately, which is followed by the news of an additional Castlevania series, the Marvel Dark Ages AU finally being re-announced, and finally, my statement on if superheroes do or don't (they do). I wrap up the episode with a brief explanation of Juneteenth, since the holiday is tomorrow, and it is the first time the government officially recognizes the holiday. If you're unsure of how to feel about the holiday or it's name, I do my best to explain it in understandable terms. I'll be back this coming Monday, June 21st, to discuss the coming comics pull list, tonight's episode of the Bad Batch, and whatever other news or speculation shows up between now and then! Stay hydrated; stay sweaty. website: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com ApplePodcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sensational-she-geek-live-from-yancy-street/id1550410718 PodBean: sensationalshegeek.podbean.com Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/45qGcYnP147aZBVIHC09lI Instagram: @annawiththecomics twitter: @savageshegeek Hello on this Friday! Today's "B" episode starts with the regular comic book pick list, showcasing what was good and interesting in this week's comics! This week I have a lot to say about a few titles, including the start to the Hellfire Gala for the Marvel X-Men, the fifth of twelve issues of Batman/Catwoman, Jed McKay's ever-glorious Black Cat, and the final issue of Sean Lewis and Caitlin Yarksy's Bliss--one of the most touching single issues of a comic I have ever read. Seriously, if you pick up just one comic this week, make it Bliss #8, in order to read the incredibly poignant ending story.
After comics talk is Superman and Lois, which itself was surprisingly touching, as well. I had to stop and talk a bit about how great the character of Lois Lane is portrayed as, and how awesome it is to see her continually working to better herself and get through her deep-seeded issues, no matter how perfect she seems on the outside. The news this week follows Netflix's Jupiter's Legacy and Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder! One was cancelled, and one finished filming--you get three guesses as to which is which, and the first two don't count. Sweet Tooth premiers on Netflix today, as well as another episode of the Bad Batch on Disney+! I'll talk about both on Monday's episode 21A, along with the coming comic book pull list and whatever additional news and speculation drops over the weekend! In the meantime, have some fun as we get closer to summer, and remain sweaty about comics, always. Happy...er, Sunday?! SO sorry I got behind on this week's "B" podcast, but life got in the way! It's here, now, with an extra half-hour more run-time than usual! Whoops?
This episode starts with the usual Comic Book Pick List, featuring things that I loved or thought were noteworthy out of this week's new comic book releases. The pick list discussion includes a solid chunk of time dedicated to this week's X-Men #20 before diving into Beta Ray Bill #3, Made in Korea #1, Monstress #34, and Strange Adventures #10, among others! With great reads comes great discussions! Then it's on to the week's media consumption, including catching up on the Bad Batch and Superman and Lois, my basic thought son Hulu's Modok, and the finale episodes of Black Lightning! For news, casting announcements for Secret Invasion, Sony's Kraven, and HBO's Green Lanterns are joined by news of an Okoye origin show coming to Disney+! Finally, the episode wraps up with some fun (?) MCU-related rumors, including one about December's Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the other about the newly announced Captain America 4--an both involve the rumored villains! I'll be back this coming TUESDAY, June 1st, with an episode going over the week's comic book pull list, as well as whatever more new and speculation gets out until then! In the meantime, thank you for listening, and for your patience with this episode's lateness. Wherever you're from, have a delightful, nerd-sweat-filled weekend! Happy Friday! This week' episode start with the usual New Comic Book Day picks, including Batman Black and White #4, Cable #9, Harley Quinn #1, Batman: White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn #6, and King in Black: Scream #1! First issues, final issues, and one-shots make up my favorite moments from this week's comics.
Then there's this week's Superman and Lois discussion, covering episode 5 of the CW series--and I'll be starting Black Lightning, soon! Then it's on to movie news, with updates for the cast and crew of Black Adam and Zatanna, then some announcements regarding the releases of some key Marvel and Disney releases. Finally, I spend a few minutes talking about Marvel's new distribution plans with Penguin Random House, and what that might affect. Bonus segment on the The Suicide Squad trailer, just as it premiers! This is gonna be a blast! See you next on Monday, 3/29, for discussing the 2nd episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and stay sweaty! Happy Friday! This week's New Comic Book Day had some excellent stories about some of my favorite comic book women: Jessica Drew, Carol Danvers, and Patsy Walker! While I talk about all of them, Patsy really won the week for me, personally, leaving me actually excited to pick up an issue of Iron Man!
I haven't watched Falcon and the Winter Soldier ep. 1 yet, or any of the Snyder Justice League, so I'll go over those on the next Monday episode. In the meantime, there's a lot worth discussing from episode 4 of Superman and Lois, and so many theories to be had! Industry news for this episode includes CW Naomi casting announcements, Netflix Cowboy Bebop updates, Free Comic Book Day 2021 titles, and DC's June comic book solicitations, which offer a wellspring of theorizing what will happen between now and then, and beyond! I'll be back with another episode this coming Monday, March 22nd, talking in-depth Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Zack Snyder's Justice League, and what's coming out next for the new comics week! Stay Sweaty! |
