It's been a long couple of weeks, hasn't it? Between pandemic and politics, there seems to be a never-ending stream of news and updates to keep up with, and most of it is no bueno. I've been a bit AWOL on my own site because of it, which I don't feel great about, admittedly. But the world continues to turn whether I update or not, even if that world is too-often at odds with itself. This week, albeit a very small comic book week for me personally, featured a comic that pulled me out of my funk of refreshing Twitter trends and reading all about the unfortunate state of American politics, and that was Excalibur #14. Written by Tini Howard with art by Phil Noto, Excalibur was shining beacon of beautiful things to enjoy, paired with thoughtful plotting that leaves the reader with plenty to mull over. Continue Reading for my review and discussion of my pick of the week: Excalibur #14! Keep an eye out for the line marking where spoilers start!

Welcome to another week of comics! This week has another great spread going on, with 3 books from DC, five indie titles, and eight from Marvel, two of which are X of Swords X-Men books. Of those, there are two new beginnings to comics, a one-shot, and the 100th Spider-Woman comic ever released, Karla Pacheco's fifth of her ongoing series.
Spotlights will be plentiful this week, again! I'm discussing Argentinian-American comic writer and legend Fabien Nicieza and his surprisingly heft history in the industry, then I'll be talking about Faith, from Faithless II, and her complicated sexual orientation. Last, I'm spotlighting Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman herself, on the occasion of her 100th solo comic! Continue Reading for all this and more! I don't want to put the wagon before the horse, but this year has started off pretty good for me. I feel like I've gotten ahead of my life enough after the holidays finally to relax a little on the weekends and enjoy my hobbies. Which is a good thing, because comics are getting going full steam ahead! This week brings me thirteen new books, so a pretty solid start to the year. New Comic Book Pulls DECEMBER 4th, 201911/30/2019 If there's anything that's true about my life today, it's that I'm thoroughly enjoying my weekly comics. It feels like around every corner, there's another excellent new series sitting there, waiting to be explored. These past few weeks have been BUSTING at the seams with new comics, so this week's nine is a nice quieter week. Three more X-Books, as it looks like Hickman has his team on 2-week intervals, Tom King's second-to-last every issue of Batman, and the well-regarded creative team of Thor is back with what promises to be a legendary one-shot with some of the best characters. It's officially December now, which means the countdown to 2020 is fully on! What should I do for the end of the year, a favorites summary? Top-5 comics of the year? Top-10? In any case, Continue Reading for this week's pulls! NEW COMICS MEGA-WEEK! November 20th, 201911/17/2019 Holy pull-list Batman! The year is finishing off STRONG for comics, as I have a massive NINETEEN issues I'm reading! Thank goodness Thanksgiving "break" is coming up, and I'll have a few extra days off from work to catch up on my reading. All of these issues coming out this week are set to be totally stellar, too. Of the 19, three are one-shots, a Deadpool #1, the final issue of Absolute Carnage, a landmark Captain Marvel issue, and one of Tom King's last ever on Batman. Amazing stuff, as we've been seeing a LOT of recently. It makes me look forward to what the future of comics has to bring, and makes me want to share the brilliant stories and art I see in them with anyone who'll listen. Comics are a world I love, and I'm thrilled to share it with others. Continue Reading for the whole lot of this week's comics! For the first time in months, I can almost count my comic pulls for the week on one hand. Almost. It's only 6 this week, half of last week's number, which has been about average these last few months. As I've mentioned a few times before, this year I challenged myself to add more comic books, and specifically more variety, to my reading list. Because of this, my weekly pull list has at least doubled in size on average, giving me plenty of reading material and plenty to talk about. Unfortunately like last week, no indie comics on my list, just Marvel and DC. This time of year publishers are doing a lot of Annuals, Specials, and One-Shots, which is why this week is so much smaller for me. That being said, the content of the six issues this week are just as good as ever, with an annual, two final issues, a first issue, and two second-to-lasts.
