Good day to you listeners! It's the super-sized Eternals movie review podcast! But first, we have to go over the weekly comic book pull list real quick (at 0:08:44), then onto the good stuff!
The Eternals discussion begins at 0:27:22 with that opening titles crawl, explaining the six singularities, the dawn of creation, and then Arishem and the Celestials both in the comics and as they are set up in the movie. Ego, the Living Planet, and his connections to the Celestials are brought into the discussion at 0:35:00, before starting the basic plot overview at 0:38:01. This section includes the most basic of plot explanations, tied up with all kinds of comics history, Easter eggs, MCU translations, some theories, and more, all the way to the ending. With the plot covered, it's on to the major and minor changes made from the comics to the MCU at 0:52:03, including retro and modern Eternals history. Then I have an in-depth look at each of the MCU versions of these Characters at 0:55:43, covering all ten Eternals and Dane Whitman, and comparing them to their comic counterparts. Finally, noteworthy moments in the movie are at 01:07:10, followed by my favorite bits of humor at 1:14:03. After a brief discussion of the movie's sometimes surprising music at 1:18:51, the episode wraps up with what to expect next for the MCU, spinning out of the events of this movie at 01:21:13. Whew, I think that was it! Let me know what you thought of the movie and give me some feedback on what worked or not in my discussion! I'll be back next for episode 41B on Friday (or Saturday) November 12/13, discussing the week's comic book pick list, possibly all that DCTV I'm behind on, more than likely more thoughts on Eternals, and anything relevant that hits the news! Have a great week, stay sweaty, and do good. Good Monday, world!
This morning brought us the first teaser trailer for Marvel's Eternals movie, coming out this November! As a bit of a "left-field" Marvel movie, this trailer settled most concerns that the film would be a bust. With an all-star cast of all types and ranges, a plethora of material to pull from, and basically a universe worth of material to introduce, this trailer made me certain Eternals won't miss the mark. Unfortunately, Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead DID miss the mark, and by a lot. While I can take gore and violence in movies without much problem, there was a lot that added to what made this movie a big problem, and left me not only extremely disappointed, but mildly confused as to how it even got green-lit in the first pace. It just wasn't very good, and I have the receipts here as to why. To end things on a lighter note, I finish off the episode with this week's Comic Book Pull List! With a lot coming out again this week, there's certainly something for everyone to look forward to. I'll be back for a new episode (19B) this Friday, May 28th, where I will be discussing my Comic Book Picks--things I found great or noteworthy out of this week's comics-- as well as going over the Bad Batch episode 4 and any other news and theories that spark between now and then! Until that time, do your best this week, and always get sweaty about your hobbies! |
