Greetings, listeners! This week's regular episode is a standard edition, with my Spider-Man: No Way Home full review coming on a special edition podcast later this week!
For now, we start with the news 0:07:34, featuring some reminders and Witcher content before talking about Hasbro's Multiverse of Madness tease by announcing the movie's toy wave 0:12:18, Marvel's new Sorcerer Supreme for the 616 universe 0:18:53, and the announcement of a big Punisher update and series 0:23:32. This week's comic book picks 0:26:23 include Wonder Girl #6, Demon Days: Rising Storm #1, Vampirella/Dracula: Unholy #1, and My Date with Monsters #2! There is also a little neg-sesh about Batgirls #1, which I hope gets better. Then it's on to the week's Pulls Pulls 0:35:35, which has a lot to look forward to! We get into Hawkeye episode 5 at 0:43:18, covering comic book references, easter eggs, theories and speculation, big reveals, and excitement for the finale this week! Don't forget to avoid the internet on Wednesday, if you want to avoid spoilers before you watch it yourself. Last, I cover the biggest points of DC's Marvel 2022 comix book solicitations 0:56:11, which has a lot of great material coming for DC Black Label and Wonder Woman's Trial of the Amazons event! I'll be back with a special edition episode by this Thursday the 23rd, covering Spider-Man: No Way Home! Other than that, the next regular podcast episode will be Monday the 27th, for our last regular episode of the year, covering the finale of Hawkeye, weekly comic picks and pulls, news, and anything else relevant to the show! It's a rainy Monday around here, I hope your week is off to a solid start!
Today's episode begins as usual with News, broken up into four sections: Trailers 0:10:40, Movie/TV Updates 0:17:40, General Industry News 0:27:50, and Rumors 0:45:31. Trailers include the first look at Naomi, and a few new clips of Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman movie, brought to you by a trailer from Warner Japan. Movie and TV updates features bits on The Marvels, the Gotham PD Reeves spinoff show, Shang-Chi, and Netflix's Cowboy Bebop. General Industry News covers the newly announced Wonder Woman video game, and what we know of Marvel in March, specifically Captain Carter, Destiny of X, and most importantly, Immortal X-Men. And finally, rumors goes over the potential The Losers Amazon show, everything you wanted to know about Phyla Vell possibly coming to the MCU, and more on that Shuri (Wakanda Forever) situation. I only had a handful of comic book picks to talk about this week 0:53:13, which were Dark Knights of Steel #2, Inferno #3, Hellions #18 (the series finale and the return of Madelyne Pryor, Goblin Queen!), Devil's Reign #1, and Daisy #1 from Dark Horse, which tbh I forgot to go back to and discuss, but was fantastic. I run through this week's pull list 1:09:30 pretty quick so I can get to the Hawkeye episode four discussion! 1:17:21 As usual, I cover all the easter eggs, hidden details, character references, comic origin material, and every bit of speculation I felt worthy of my time, including one or two theories that I'm personally banking on pretty hard. The next episode is gonna be a big'un, as it'll cover not only this Wednesday's Hawkeye Episode 5, but my spoiler review of Spider-Man: No Way Home! hat's as well as the regular picks and pulls from new comic book day, and relevant industry news, too. Marvel and DC March 2022 solicitations coming soon! My first special edition episode will be coming around the end of the year, featuring my personal Best in Comics 2021 list! So much goodness to come, so be sure to check back weekly, and never feel ashamed to get sweaty over your hobbies! This week I'm starting a new format for the podcast episodes. For the foreseeable future, regular episodes will be posted weekly on Mondays, with any additional episodes covering special features relating to comics history, relevant characters, or whatever else you want to hear about! Start sending me ideas!
The week's news starts at 0:08:15 kicking off with Lost in Space season 3, which is on Netflix in it's entirety! There is a lengthy discussion of the brief Spider-Verse sequel teaser, titled Across the Spider-Verse! I'm talking Web of Destiny, Inheritors, 2099, and more! I have two big MCU theories lined up at 0:17:36, followed by a really big, very official MCU announcement! The news is wrapped up with an overview of the She-Hulk update at 0:21:03, which leads her into her new series, coming next month. The comic book picks from last week start at 0:22:44, and the bulk of the discussion focuses on Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons #1, which was indescribably impressive and moving. I get to Animal Castle at 0:36:30, my second favorite pick of the week! Plus a whole lot of other reads from the past week, of course. Pulls for this week are found at 0:50:23, including a number of #1's as well as the return of Madelyne Pryor, the penultimate Hickman work for Marvel's X-Men, and a new era and creative team for Batman! You can listen to the Hawkeye episode 3 discussion at 0:57:10, going over the episode called Echoes. I point out comic book connections, theories, Easter eggs, and more as we go over this exciting, fast-paced episode. We wrap it all up with a very brief look at the recently closed arc of Young Justice, which starred some favorite oft-overlooked female characters, and featured an oddly positive retelling of a Killing Joke. I'll be back for a regular episode next Monday the 13th of December, covering Hawkeye episode 4, the week's comic book picks, the news, and anything else that hits my radar! In the meantime, send me those special edition episode requests and have a killer week! I took last week off for "Fall Break," but we're back today with a seriously oversized podcast episode! Stick around, cause there's a lot to catch!
We start is off with the news as usual (0:14:13), covering a number of smaller No Way Home updates before getting into one very big and very exciting Spider-Man franchise update (0:18:27)! After the news of Matt Reeves' The Batman runtime, we go on to briefly discuss the Super Crooks Netflix Anime from Millar-World (0:24:52), and finish off the news with talk on the cancellation of Luke Cage: City of Fire, and why that is such a poor decision for Marvel to apparently have made ( 0:27:05). We have two big comic book segments today, the first being the weekly Pick list for comics that came out last week, on the 23rd and 24th. At the top of the list sits John Ridley's Black Panther #1, Jed McKay's Death of Doctor Strange #3, and the final issue of Hickman/Huddleston's Decorum. Admittedly, I also spend some time complaining about the new X-Men run, t the end (0:44:31). For the pull list for this week's comics (0:49:30), I'm looking forward to a number of #1's, one-shots, anniversary issues, and final issues, among others. It's a big week for comics, for sure! The massive, all-inclusive Hawkeye discussion (1:07:52) certainly has more information than you need to know, with episode 2 kicking in at 1:28:04. I've also compiled a list of all the points (I have 8 groupings) the show has taken from the 2012 Matt Fraction/David Aja Hawkeye comic book series, for which neither creator has been given any credit for (1:38:29). In my opinion, designers of stories that re turned into other major media ought to be paid the way any costume or set designers would be. After Hawkeye is my thoughts on the Netflix live action Cowboy Bebop show (1:43:25), which are mostly positive! I haven't finished it, but I'm enjoying it so far. Finally, to mark the holiday that passed us by last week, I put together a discussion of 1989-1990's She-Hulk: Ceremony (1:46:56). It covers a lot of topics relevant to our modern world, many of which I go into depth on in my written discussion, which can be found on my website blog, linked below. I cover the general plot of the story, the legendary feud between Ceremony writer Brian McDuffie and Sensational She-Hulk writer John Byrne (1:50:37), and finally, the one, the only, Wyatt Wingfoot! 1:58:38 Wingfoot is a character with old, strong ties between himself and Johnny Storm and the Fantastic Four, Jen Walters, Black Panther, and other major marvel heroes. He's chief of his Keewazi tribe from Oklahoma, a proven warrior, empath, and thinker, and is one of my best guesses at characters soon to be introduced to the MCU! You can check out this discussion for his character history, relevant ties, where he was inspired from, and anything else you could possibly want to know about Wyatt Wingfoot! I'll be back with the next podcast episode Friday the 3rd (or September the 4th) covering the Wednesday episode of Hawkeye, comic book picks for the week, and any other news, which I'm sure there will be plenty of! Stay warm and dry, keep it sweaty, and try not to cast judgement. MARVEL ZOMBIES What If? Comics Chat, MCU Speculation, & More!9/27/2021 Man, time is just flying by! Today's Monday episode comes later than I expected, but still here! You can see from the time-stamps below that we're going over some MCU Speculation, the comic book Pick List from last week, the new episodes of What If...? and Titans, the trailers for Hawkeye and Doom Patrol, and the comic pick list for this week!
What If...?, Titans, and the trailers discussions includes a great deal of comic talk, referring to the source material as we work out way through the topic. MCU speculation leads to a brief Young Avengers MCU talk! And the comics...well, there's always something to say about new comics, and I'm always excited for it.
