Weekly Comics Pull List,+ Marvel & DC December Comic solicits!9/27/2021 Pull List @ 0:16:40
Marvel Comics December @ 0:42:22 DC Comics December @ 1:04:00 Good Monday, and Happy Autumn! This week's "A" episode kicks off with one big bit of news, focusing on the trailer for Hit-Monkey, coming to Hulu in November! I go through the comics facts about all the relevant players in this discussion. After the regular weekly comic book pull list, I'm able to discuss both Marvel and DC comics announced for December release! While I'm not going through every solicitation of the month, I've picked out a few from either publisher that seemed interesting or worth mentioning. While the Marvel discussion is longer, there's more variety in what I'm excited for at DC! I'll be back this coming Friday, September 24th with another episode focusing on the the week's comic book Picks, the Wednesday episode 7 of What If...? on Disney+, and the Thursday episode of Titans on HBO Max! Have a peaceful equinox, find balance in your life as the days and nights become equal in length, and find time to get sweaty about your hobbies. Greetings! Today's Friday podcast episode 33B starts off with some pretty brief news, namely surrounding two live-action television productions that only recently got announced. After that is the regular comic book pick list, focusing on things I thought were interesting or relevant for mentioning out of this week's new comic releases. Stars this week included Eternals: Thanos Rises, Trial of Magneto #2, Superman and the Authority #3, Porcelain #2, Maw #1, and more!
The it's the TV of the week, including Wednesday's episode 6 of What If...? premiering on Disney+, and Thursday's episode of Titans on HBO Max. Both had a lot of really fun developments and comic references that I was thrilled to discuss! I'll be back for another episode Monday, September 20th, talking new comic book day pulls as well as December comic book news for Marvel and DC! Have a cool weekend, stay groovy, stay healthy, and always be sweaty. Pick List: 0:14:24 Titans ep.8: 1:01:46 What If...? ep.6: 1:14:45 Ep.33A: HAWKEYE Trailer Explained! MARVEL ZOMBIES What If? Comics Chat, MCU Speculation, & More!9/27/2021 Man, time is just flying by! Today's Monday episode comes later than I expected, but still here! You can see from the time-stamps below that we're going over some MCU Speculation, the comic book Pick List from last week, the new episodes of What If...? and Titans, the trailers for Hawkeye and Doom Patrol, and the comic pick list for this week!
What If...?, Titans, and the trailers discussions includes a great deal of comic talk, referring to the source material as we work out way through the topic. MCU speculation leads to a brief Young Avengers MCU talk! And the comics...well, there's always something to say about new comics, and I'm always excited for it. I'll be back this Friday, September 17th with an episode covering this week's Picks, the new episodes of What If...? and Titans, and anything le that hits the news! Fall is coming, so soak up the last rays of late evening sun, be grateful for the growth you've had over this year, and enjoy your nerdy properties. MCU Speculation 1st! Marvel Comics announcements @ 1:18:23 Titans S.3 Ep.6 @ 1:24:19 What If...? Ep. 4 @ 1:35:49 Spoiler Free SHang-Chi Review @ 1:45:15 Whew, what a Monday! Today's ultra-packed episode covers a ton of material, starting with the past week's comic Pick list, my favorites of which were New Mutants and the Harley Quinn Annual! DC and Marvel each had big announcements this week, with DC confirming their second annual DC Fandome online event, and Marvel releasing a loose schedule of upcoming titles for their comics slate. After those discussion, I'm covering Titans season 3 episode 6, as well as What If...? episode 4, titled, "What If...Doctor Strange Lost his Heart Instead of His Hands?" There was a lot to love in this dark retelling! Finally, this episode wraps up with a spoiler-free review of Shang-Chi, out in theaters now! After seeing it myself, I encourage you all even more to go support it if you are safely able, because I had a blast, and I'm sure you would, too. I'll be back for another episode this coming Friday, September 10th, covering the comic book Pick list for this week, a complete, spoiler Shang-Chi review, a breakdown of the Doom Patrol season 3 trailer, and more! Have a great week, and remember representation matters in all media. Ep.32A: Comics Pull List, Marvel and DC Comics in November, Black Canary on HBO Max, and more!9/27/2021 Good Monday! It's been a quiet weekend so I changed things up a touch with the podcast format, starting off with the news and rumors segment! The news this week brings us the official announcement of a Black Canary movie on HBO Max starring Journee Smollet, the casting of Poison Ivy for Batwoman, and rumors of Multiverse of Madness and the Flash movie!
Then it's off to the comic pull list, where I am happy to be able to spotlight a off number of comics with excellent character and/or creator representation! That list includes two Mirka Andolfo projects, Joelle Jones' Wonder Girl, Peach Momoko's Demon Days reimagining of the Marvel Universe, and more! It's a wonderful week for positive representation. Finally, the last thing I talk about on this episode are the November Marvel and DC comics solicitations. Marvel's list includes a number of one-shots and mini series', while DC's is a whole lot of bat-family goodness! There's so much to look forward to at the end of the year, and always more being added on! I'll be back this Friday, September 3rd for the weekly B episode, covering the comic book Pick list, What If...? Episode 4, Titans episode 6, and anything else relevant for discussion! Have a chill week, stay positive, and sweat it out about comics! Ep.31B: NCBD Pick List ft. Marvel's Voices: Identity! + What If...? ep.3 & Titans ep.5 Discussions!9/27/2021 Happy Friday! We've got a slightly shorter "B" episode this week, starting off by covering the comic book pick list! This week's list includes Barbaric #3, Marvel's Voices: Identity #1, which celebrates Asian superheroes and creators, and Batman: Reptilian #3, among others.
The two shows I'm discussing on this episode are Marvel's What If...? episode three and Titans on HBO Max episode five! Both give a great deal to talk about and theorize over! I'll be back on Monday, August 30th for our last episode of the month, featuring the comics Pull List the news, and more! Ep.30A: NCBD Pull List, The Bad Batch FINALE, Titans Theories, WW Evolution, and Nichelle Nichols9/27/2021 Hello Monday! This week's "A" episode starts as normal, with the weekly comic book pull list! This week's incoming comics include a good deal of indie #1's some final issues, and three different Tom King titles! For an explanation on King's Bat/Cat romance as we've seen it play out so far, see episode 20A!
The big TV event of the past few days was the finale episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 1. I loved the whole thing, which was full of tension, passion, and emotion! All of which are discussed in depth, as well as theories for the next season and where characters will go from here. Finally, in the news, I discuss some theories I have for Titans season 3, the announcement of the Wonder Woman Evolution series, Nichelle Nichols' (see: Star Trek's Lt. Uhura) conservatorship situation, and the coming episode of What If...?, which will be sure to tug on all of our heartstrings just a bit. And don't forget, Shang Chi tickets are now on sale! I'll be back this Friday, August 20th with an episode that will include the weekly comic book Pick list, discussion of Titans episode 4 and What If...? episode 2, possibly as well as the episodes of Superman and Lois I've missed, but no promises on that one. In the meantime, have an excellent week, and stay sweaty! Bwah-buh-buh-Bwaaahhh (air horn noises) It's another extra-sized podcast episode on this lucky Friday the 13th!
This week had SO much to talk about, I didn't want to leave anything out! We start the episode as usual with the comic book pick list, discussing titles like Mamo, Daredevil, Captain Marvel, and Fantastic Four: Life Story! After the pick list is a special segment on Free Comic Book Day 2021, which takes pace this Saturday, August 14th at your local comic book stores! Pop in during their event hours for a selection of FREE comics, which I highlight my personal upcoming favorites from here! After comics chat is the shows! We have three shows to discuss this week, starting with the premier of What If...? on Disney+. The premier episode was "What if...Peggy Carter was the first Avenger?" And boy, did it ROCK! I discuss all the relevant information about the episode relating to comic history, of course! After What If...? is Titans, season 3! The first 3 episodes were dropped on HBO Max yesterday, and they. were. epic! From a Death in the Family to the Killing Joke to every Easter egg I could find, it's a long, excitable discussion of this first releases from Titans season 3! Finally, I briefly discuss Taika Waititi's Reservation Dogs, another amazing show that premiered recently, which I cannot recommend enough to fans of Waititi's humor and storytelling style. Available to binge the first two episodes on Hulu! Once we get past the TV talk, onto the news! This week's news includes the casts of Netflix's Wednesday, which will follow Wednesday Addams and her parents, as well as Netflix's live-action Avatar remake. While I'm hesitant about the latter for obvious reasons, the showrunners of this new Avatar seem to have a solid grasp of where they're going with the show and it's characters. The last bit of news I wanted to share today involved Tim Drake officially becoming a member of the LGBTQ+ community at DC comics. I found a truly stellar article from Nerdist writer Eric Diaz on why this is an important development, both historically and in modern comics history. You can find the article here, or listen to me read it for you during this episode, because Diaz hit exactly the points I had in mind-- and so eloquently. Major Kudos. The episode wraps up with a brief statement on how Disney's Jungle Cruise is so much like a remake of The Mummy (1999). Trust me, I'll walk you through this one! It'll be fun, I promise. I'll be back this coming Monday, August 16th for another "A" episode, following the new comic book pulls for the week, the finale of Star Wars: the Bad Batch (which premiers tonight on Disney+), and any other industry news or speculation that breaks between now and then! Have a great weekend, stay hydrated, don't be a Karen, and do be sweaty! This week's "A" Episode is appearing on Tuesday due to technical difficulties, of sorts. We kick things off this week with the usual weekly comic book pull list, including I am Batman #0, Mamo #2, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, and more!
After that is the discussion of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad! Spoilers and mild disappointment abound. What? Disappointment?? Yep. I try to explain as clearly as I can why I only watched the movie once over the weekend. However, my discussion also includes summaries of each character's comic iteration compared with the movie version! After that is a talk exploring episode 5 of the Bad Batch, which has its series finale this Friday. "Return to Kamino" held a number of key reveals, some curious teases, and a cliffhanger ending! Finally, I clap back at some commenter who argued She-Hulk MUST be tortured to leave the Avengers, and how that IS bad writing. If I can come up with a more compelling story than the professional writer, maybe things aren't going too well. I'll be back this coming Friday, August 13th with episode 29B, which will focus on the comic book pick list, the initial episode of What If...? on Disney+, and potentially the season premier of Titans season 3! Till then, stay hydrated, stay healthy, and stay sweaty. Ahsoka show castings, and Trial of Magneto preview!8/10/2021 Hello, listeners! This week's B episode is a touch shorter than usual, s I'm recording it on Thursday instead of the usual Friday, and a number of Indie comics were delayed to my shop. Still, we have a great discussion of my favorite (so far) new comic book day picks, including The Me You Love in the Dark #1, X-Men #2, and Suicide Squad: Get Joker #1!
The news is mainly taken up by not-quite-official announcements of a few castings for the Ahsoka show on Disney+, and what that would mean for the plot of the live-action show. Finally, the episode wraps up with a discussion of the upcoming Trail of Magento series by Leah Williams and Lucas Werneck. The discussion includes the recent preview pages, statements from the creators, and my personal theories based on the histories of the characters. I'll be back like usual Monday, August 9th for episode 29A, where I will be discussing James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, out this weekend! I'll also cover the next week's comic book pull list, and the second-to-last episode of Star Wars: the Bad Batch! Have a stellar weekend, do good, and be sweaty. Ep.27B: NCBD Sweet Paprika! End of Eternals, Cable, & Beta Ray Bill! +MCU and DCEU News and Rumors!8/4/2021 It's Friday, everyone! This week's "B" episode is a little shorter than what I've been putting out recently because there was no Wednesday media to dissect, and the news was a bit quiet. Still, I have a long list of new comics from this week to discuss, including Mirka Andolfo's Sweet Paprika #1, Barbaric and Batman Reptilian #2, and the final issues of Cable, Beta Ray Bill, and Eternals.
Since comics talk makes up the bulk of this episode, I didn't list any time stamps to follow, but the news and rumors segments is at the end! Covering Mirka Andolfo's Red Sonja, Shang Chi marketing, Michael B Jordan's Superman movie, and some more MCU rumors! I'll be back on Monday, AUGUST 2nd for another episode covering the weekly comic book pull list, tonight's episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and whatever other relevant news hits the internet between now and then! Till that time, stay safe, stay hungry, and keep it sweaty. Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek Patreon Program: patron.com/sensationalshegeek Hiya, folks! This Monday brings us a HUGE comic book pull list for the week, including a total of 21 comics discussed! Highlights include the Mighty Valkyries, Batman Reptilian, Sonjaversal, Strange Adventures, and the return of Amazing Fantasy! These comics will come out Wednesday the 28th, or Tuesday the 27th for DC comics.
After a short blurb on the 13th episode of the Bad Batch, I'm covering Marvel's October solicitations! We did DC last week, so it's only fair. There are a ton of exciting things coming out in October, and I've picked out a bunch of ones I'm looking forward to! I had to stop the normal podcast, at this point, to talk about something important I forgot to mention last Friday: Marauders #22, which undid a long-ago wrong to a strong female character who always deserved better. Not only did they undo the wrong, they made it so she never went through the worsts of it in the first place. Now that's a retcon I can completely get on board with, and I talk about the meaningful details here. After a little MCU and Pokemon project news, the podcast today wraps up with a list of Eisner Award winners! The awards were granted over the weekend when Comic Con San Diego would normally be happening, and I'm thrilled to recognize a number of the titles and creators. I'll be back this coming Friday, July 30th for our last July episode, covering the new comics Pick list, breaking news and speculation, and whatever else becomes relevant between now and then! Till then, have an excellent week, and stay sweaty. Happy Friday! Today's podcast starts with the comic book pick list, including The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, Superman and the Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and more! I had a great time with some of the reads from this week, and am so excited to go over this discussion!
After that is the discussion of the Loki Assembled behind-the-scenes episode, which was far superior to the first two! We got some delightful insights to some of the best parts of the show, and enough crew interviews to get a good feel of the making of the show. For news this week, we're talking Dune's trailer, castings for Batgirl and an unknown (but exciting!) Wakanda Forever role, and update on the Galactus HasLab project! I'll be back this coming Monday, July 26th, for another A episode featuring the weekly comic book pick list, tonight's episode of the Bad Batch, and more news and speculation! Until then, stay kind, and stay sweaty. Having missed the pat week, it's no question why this episode is over 2 hours long! Here's the scoop: 1) Black Widow Movie Discussion, covering Easter eggs, theories, minor gripes, and excitement for the future of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova! 2) (@ 1hr, 2min) LOKI episode 6 (FINALE!) I'll be back with a new episode this coming Friday, July 23rd, where I will discuss the week's comic book pick list, the Loki behind-the-scenes episode, and anything else newsworthy! LOKI ep5 explained, Marvel's What If...? Trailer!8/4/2021 Happy Friday, happy New Moon, and happy Black Widow day!
Today's episode starts off with the weekly comic book pick list, including a number of fantastic reads! My favorites were Wonder Girl #2, X-Men #1, Karmen #5, Mamo #1, the Good Asian #3, and several others! I wasn't so keen on what Jason Aaron is doing to Jen Walters in Avengers, though. After the pick list is the weekly LOKI discussion, this time covering Wednesday's 5th episode! There was a lot revealed, a lot to see and laugh about, and some incredible theories after this second-to-last episode! The podcast this week wraps up with the news from Marvel's What If...? show, coming next month on Disney+! It'll be a wild ride and a fun, creative look at what could have happened differently in the MCU. I'll be back on Monday, July 12th to discuss BLACK WIDOW as well as the Bad Batch episode 11, and the weekly comics pull list! Don't miss out! Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Patreon Program: patron.com/sensationalshegeek Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek Hello everyone! This week's "A" episode is coming out on Tuesday instead of Monday due to the holiday over the weekend! Sorry if that threw anyone off!
The bulk of this Tuesday podcast episode follows my weekly comic pull list. This week I discuss 13 different new comics, including the beginnings of X-Men, Ordinary Gods, Mamo, and Fights Girls, the ending of Karmen, my thoughts on the coming World War She-Hulk, and nothing but excitement and admiration for Wonder Girl and Sensational Wonder Woman! Following the pull list is the discussion of the most recent episode of Star Wars: the Bad Batch. Episode 10 was titled Common Ground, and was a great one for fans of droids and proving Omega's usefulness. Finally, I wrap up the episode by addressing the new rumors surrounding Wolverine in the MCU. <3 Logan <3 I'll be back this coming Friday, July 9th, for episode 25B, where we will discuss Loki episode 5, the comic book Pick list, and more industry news and speculation! And don't forget, Black Widow is Friday, as well! We'll discuss THAT one on Monday, 7/12! Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek Patreon Program: patron.com/sensationalshegeek Ep.24B: NCBD X-Factor, Barbaric, Monstress, oh my! Loki ep4 explained, the Trial of Magneto, +more!7/6/2021 Good morning people! Today is Friday July 2nd, and this is episode 24B! This week's Friday episode starts off with the comic book Pick list: things I found great or interesting from the week's new comic book day reads. Some of the heavy-hitters for me were Barbaric #1, X-Factor #10, and Monstress #35, among the total of 11 discussed this week!
After the picks list is the discussion of Loki episode four on Disney+! This week's episode was far superior to the last, IMO, with a plethora of tidbits to pick up on, theories to speculate about, and reveals to excite us all! That end credits scene, whew! I go over the whole shebang, here. Then it's the news! There won't be an episode of Superman and Lois for the next few weeks, which is honestly fine, but the big ticket news item of the day is the Trial of Magneto! After the ending events of X-Factor #10, Leah Williams is bringing fab artist Lucas Werneck to this 2+ issue arc starting in August. Paired with a stunning Mark Brooks homage to Michelangelo's Pieta, this series is a lot to look forward to! The episode wraps up today with brief discussion of the leaked and subsequently announced Spider-Man 3 suit for Peter Parker. It's design tells us a few important things about the movie, which is coming out in December. I'll be back on Empire Day--this Monday, July 5th, for episode 25A, discussing the comic comics book pull list, tonight's episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and any breaking news and announcements! Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek Ep.24A: Weekly Comic Pull List, The Bad Batch ep9, + Harley Quinn: The Eat, Bang, Kill Tour!7/6/2021
Another Monday, another podcast "A" episode! This week starts off with the usual Pull list, where we have a handful of annuals and anniversary issues, a handful of #1's, and some great indie and cape comics!
After the pull list, I'm delighted to go over the most recent episode of Star Wars' The Bad Batch on Disney+, which was episode 9! This one was probably my favorite episode of the show yet, and there are a lot of cool reveals to be discussed! Finally, I end the episode on some Harley Quinn discussion, specifically revolving around the often continued "queer coding" of her character. While Harley and Ivy officially came "out" as romantic partners recently in canon, I go over a little of the history of their relationship, the problem with writing off queer characters, and of course, the Harley Quinn animated series' new upcoming comic, Harley Quinn: The Eat, Bang, Kill Tour! If the title alone doesn't get you, I have plenty of other reasons you might fid this series enjoyable. I'll be back this coming Friday, JULY 2nd, for episode 24B, which will focus on Loki ep4, the comic book pick list, and whatever is newsworthy in he industry between now and then! In the meantime, stay hydrated, and get sweaty about comics! Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek Patreon Program! Happy Friday! This Friday episode starts with the usual weekly comic book pick list, and boy did we have some great picks! I mostly discuss Homesick Pilot #6, Harley Quinn #4, and Batman: Reptilian #1, but also touch on Silk, Captain Marvel, Marvel Voices Pride, and some others!
After the picks, we go straight into this week's third episode of Loki. It was a very different watching experience than the previous two, and not necessarily in good ways. But we did learn some integral information about the TVA and our cast of characters, and I discuss all the speculation as well! After a brief mention of Superman and Lois, I discuss the new trailers for The Suicide Squad and Shang Chi! I'm excited for both movies, for totally different reasons. And since Shang-Chi has such an involved world it's tying into, there are a lot of Easter eggs to be on the lookout for! Finally, this week's podcasts wrap up with the news of a new era for the Amazing Spider-Man, complete with some major switch-ups, including the return of Ben Reilly! There's a whole new set of creatives on these new projects, so if you're a fan of Spider-Man, you'll want to stay in the loop! I'll be back for a new episode this coming Monday, June 28th, where I'll discuss the coming week's comic book pull list, tonight's episode of the Bad Batch, and whatever other news or speculation rears it's head between now and then! In the meantime, stay cool this hot summer; hydrate, hippies; practice empathy; get sweaty about comics! Website/Blog: www.sensationalshegeek.weebly.com Apple Podcasts Podbean Spotify Instagram: @annawiththecomics Twitter: @savageshegeek YouTube: Sensational She-Geek
Hello and happy first day of summer! Today's "A" episode starts with the regular weekly comic book pull list, including 18 comics from a variety of publishers! My spotlights on representation this week are for Marvel's Voices: Pride #1 Silk #4, Harley Quinn #4, Captain Marvel #29, and Eros and Psyche #4. Between excellent female creators and interesting female characters, this is a big week for women and the queer community in comics!
Then I go over this past Friday's episode of the Bad Batch, episode 8, where Crosshair finally catches up to the gang, and a fan-favorite (although certainly not my own favorite) character from Clone Wars makes a sneaky return. The DCEU had some exciting BTS-pics released this week, some official and some leaked from set. The picture of behind-the-scenes on the Flash movie set show some interesting insights and leave room for tons of speculation, while the official Shazam Family photo for Fury of the Gods makes me excited for a much more mature take! Finally, this morning saw the release of the first official Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins movie trailer! While I'm far from being a Joe's sweaty, I know enough to be able to appreciate the movie for what it is, and have a few insights to the actors' histories. I'll be back this Friday, June 25th, for another episode focusing on Wednesday's Loki episode 3, the comic book Pick list, and whatever news or speculation breaks between now and then! In the meantime, have a blessed solstice, and remember to get sweaty.
