It's a short week for comics! Short is relative, I suppose, and for what my lists have been recently, this is definitely short. It's also very Marvel heavy--of the seven books I'm reading this week, four are Marvel, one is DC, one Dynamite, and one Image. Not the variety I'd normally like to have in my reading material, but when the list is so small, the variety will be narrow as well. That isn't to say there's nothing good coming out this week at all! This week marks the first issue of Marvel's third Gamerverse book for Spider-Man, Black Cat Strikes. I'm a big fan of Black Cat, so this series will hopefully fill a long-empty hole where my female Marvel anti-heroes should live. Additionally, this week has the next issue of Undiscovered Country, which has caused quite a stir even on just it's third issue, and two other favorites from my pull list: Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider and Vampirella/Red Sonja (check out the Babs Tarr variant to the left!). It's a smaller, but definitely fun week in comics! Continue Reading to see what's good this week! PS--Extra content at the very end, don't miss out! PPS-- the 19th is my birthday! I don't expect you to do anything with this information. Marvels Spider-Man Black Cat Strikes #1
Revenge of Cosmic Ghost Rider #2
Undiscovered Country #3
Flash Forward #5
Vampirella Red Sonja #5
Valkyrie Jane Foster #7
Avengers #29
Throwing in at the end here, I just wanted to add that there's actually a decent amount of stuff coming out this week that I didn't write about but I may end up reading. I don't want to add them to my written pull list, since they won't be on my IRL pull list, but they're worth mentioning so I will do that here.
There's a Jessica Jones series by Kelly Thompson (see: Deadpool, Captain Marvel, West Coast Avengers, Mr. and Mrs X, etc.) coming out Wednesday too. I'm not including this because it was already digitally released some time ago, and this is just it's first print format release. Additionally, there's Venom: the End #1. I ended up reading last week's Miles Morales: The End, which was cute, but these are one-shots that really don't have any effect on the main Marvel Universe, so I'm considering them more of optional free-time reads. Ha, like I get paid for any of this. It was a cute book, but I didn't buy hard copy it in the end because it didn't feel like something I need in my collection. Same as the Venom version. It'll probably be good, and pretty cool, but it's definitely it's own thing, and therefore I will refrain from adding it to my actual pull list. That being said, I will add the Captain Marvel: The End to my list when it comes out in a week or so. Yes, I play favorites. Iron Man 2020 is another issue I may read, but am not adding to the pull list, because I don't see myself sticking with it. This isn't a Tony Stark book, this is Arno Stark (Tony's half brother IIR) in his weird, gear-ish armor. It's also supposed to be the first book kicking off the next Marvel event, something about a robot revolution. Last, if you're into the noir detective side of things, the second issue of The Question is out this Wednesday as well. My partner is super into crime stories and mysteries and LOVES it, so if you feel the same, you likely will love it too. It's a DC Black Label book, which have all proven to be quality reads already. Happy reading, and stay sweaty!
