Woohoo, more read lists! Patsy is a fun one, and a rare one. She made her first appearance in comics in 1944, where she premiered as a teenage girl in some of their romance comics, of the time. She starred in comics full of women competing with each other, degrading one another out of jealousy, and aiming to make their entire existence about the man they're dating. After a while, her romance comics began to fade, and Marvel found a way to bring her into their main universe. She was still just Patsy, for a time, until chance encounters with other superheroes of the era gave her an opportunity to tag along on their adventures, then be a part of the heroes, themselves. On a trip through the Brand building, her opportunity grows, and she becomes Hellcat. Patsy's history is easy to get a grip on who she is. From her eras pre-hero, to the old-school teams she joined, to her marriage, her death and rebirth, her first solo series' and team-ups with her BFFs, there are so many places to touch on in her history. As I've been doing it, the summaries and commentary on this read list might be a bit spotty, filling in a little of each era as I go. If there's anything specific you'd like me to summarize for you which I haven't touched on yet, let me know! Modern Hellcat is pretty different from the character we've seen grow and change over the years, but her most recent appearances in Iron Man by Christopher Cantwell make me hopeful for more proper Hellcat in the future. Patsy and the Avengers are sneaking through the Roxxon building (??) when they come across the old suit of The Cat! The story briefly explains her, and Cap asks Patsy if she wants to be the new Cat. She thinks, in her mind, about her life so far, effectively giving her an origin story, and she cries out YES! When she changes in to the outfit, they are all surprised by how menacing she looks, and she takes the name Hellcat. Avengers #147 She notes the suit seems to know what to do as she fights, helping her. They're fighting the Squadron Supreme, now, and there's that weird snake hat thing I never quite understand. Patsy reminds Beast to call her Hellcat in the suit. Avengers #148-151 I'm going to be honest, this writing is atrocious. Even skimming these issues takes effort. Important stuff in #151: The team is deciding who to make as the new lineup. It's down to one more person, either Moondragon of Hellcat. Moondragon decides not to join, saying she doesn't feel welcome. Ironically, several members respond to her saying this with thoughts of disgust towards her. Wonder why she felt like that...When they offer the job to Hellcat, she accepts excitedly, but Moondragon weirdly steps in and tells her she needs to come with her to train. Patsy agrees, saying as long as her position in the Avengers remains available. Moondragon says she will help patsy learn to be a super-hero, and Patsy will help her learn to be human. Thor takes them off, Patsy corrects Beast again on her name being Hellcat in costume, kissing his cheek. 149 apparently Buzz Baxter is back and tries to hurt Patsy Defenders #44-57, #59-81, #83-91 Hellcat first appears mid-issue, climbing through a window where the Defenders are fighting in the Sanctum Sanctorum. She says she needs to speak with the Sorcerer Supreme. She explains her story: six weeks ago in Avengers #151, she turned down a position on the team to go study with Moondragon, she notes it was more like a command. They were supposed to leave her slot open on the team, and her training with Moondragon got cut short when she sensed danger for the team. Patsy returned, warned the Avengers, and came straight here. The city is mesmerized outside, Hellcat notes it's already begun. In the end of 44, Valkyrie, Hellcat, and (fem)Red Guardian show up to save the male Defenders from the Defender. 45 the three women are ready to fight the Guardian. They fight a giant stone Stephen Strange, Hellcat tends to say all kinds of really bizarre things like "boogaloo" and "holy cow" and "savvy?" Hellcat saves Red Guardian, they talk among themselves as they fight. Everyone is under the spell of a guy called Rajah, they run into a group of girls trying to save their kidnapped friends and they tell them to go home, they'll take care of it. At the Sanctum, Valkyrie tells Hellcat they must find out why Red Guardian scummed to him and they didn't, Hellcat suggests it's her communist mentality, and starts in on "my ex-husband used to say..." when Val cuts her off and tells her not to make a harsh judgement based off nationality. Red Guardian walks in, saying she dislikes certain aspects of her government, then says some confusing shit about maybe they're right, I think. Val adds that Hellcat trained with Moondragon so that certainly helped her, and summons Clea. Clea has been trying to contact Doctor Strange since he disappeared, and she tells them that the Red Rajah is, in fact, Doctor Strange. Meanwhile, the Rajah is speaking to his brain-washed disciples, the girls swoop down on them with Clea, Val is leading. Rajah sends brain-washed heroes after them, Hellcat fights Hulk, Clea goes after Rajah when he is distracted. the heroes' fight rage gets harder, and Hellcat makes some lame puns, including saying she was almost pulp-in-boots. Clea finally breaks through mentally to Doctor Strange, freeing him and everyone under Rajah's influence. Clea speaks with Stephen on what happened--he says that being him means sometimes being open to evil influence. It ends and he announces he must leave the team. 46 after announcing he will leave the team, Doctor strange explains his decision. His powers are diminished, and the team is too reliant on him. Then Luke Cage and Red Guardian say they're leaving, too. Luke because he says hes a loner, and Tania because she's needed as a Doctor in Russia. Since they're leaving, Hellcat says she wouldn't mind "pussy-footing around" with the Defenders for a while. Valkyrie says they need to relocate from the Sanctum since Stephen won't be a member, Nighthawk suggest the old Riding Academy. Hellcat thinks to herself that this team is just as weird as the Avengers and she loves it. On the ride to their new digs, Val tells Hellcat not to grip her horse's flank so tightly with her claws. When they arrive, she notes that it's nicer than the Avengers mansion. They go inside and Scorpio is there, They fight, Hellcat has weird extentable claw strings. 47 Valkyrie and Hellcat take off on her pegasus. Valkyrie shows up to the Sanctum looking for Clea, i guess because the outfit she designed for Val wasn't appearing when she draws her sword. Clear fixes it, and changes up the outfit for her again. Meanwhile, Hellcat goes to Avengers Mansion. She runs into Wonder Man, not knowing he recently joined the Avengers. They fight, meanwhile Jack shows up for help from Clea and Val. They all head to the mansion, finding WOnder Man rescuing Hellcat from under fallen debris. They fight him initially, until Hellcat wakes up and say he saved her. She pulls up a video file on the computer of Iron Man stating she and Moondragon will always be welcome on the team 77 moondragon takes patsy's mental powers Savage She-Hulk #13-14 art isn't great, neither is writing. amazing how much of a She-Hulk comic doesn't have very much She-Hulk in it. Jen is down in the dumps about being She-Hulk. Zapper comes with flowers and just misses her, he's a weird dude. At the Defenders HQ, Hellcat is nabbed. She arrives at some cave-man looking dudes' place. They knock her out. Then they confront Jen, knowing she-s She-Hulk, and she transforms. They call in support cause one of them is magical, and she goes for the Shadow Cloak he took when he took Hellcat. He vanishes and pops up in Other Realm, where they are keeping Hellcat. Since the cloak is gone and they're stuck there, he frees her of her bonds. Back on Earth, Jen has the cloak ad the door rings, it's Zapper again with flowers. Richard is staying with her, Zapper throws the flowers on the ground and tells her he doesn't want to see her again. lol. Richard gives her a necklace that contain other realm? 14 explains Richard received signals he though were from space, bu actually were Man-Wold on Other Realm. The cave man types that kidnapped Hellcat are his minions, who needed the cloak to save him. the writing is so convoluted, trying to explain things that happened somewhat out of order in the last issue. The necklace was Jen's old lost one, and it calls Zapper her young neighbor, when he was already established as same-aged friend. She and Richard talk about their history, etc, they talk through the whole night. Then Zapper's mom shows up looking for him? He's an adult man, but okay...Back in Other Realm, Hellcat and that guy discuss options. She realizes if she focuses hard enough, she can summon and travel through the cloak, which she does. Zapper and Jen have trouble at the bar with the viking cavemen guys. Hellcat arrives at Jen's house through the cloak, and puts it on to find Jen--but she's searching She-Hulk, so the cloak doesn't activate, because Jen is Jen. Once Jen transforms in her fight at the bar, the cloak works for Hellcat. She jumps in the middle of the fight and heckles She-Hulk. Hellcat helps the guys take her into the cloak and Other Realm. Jen's necklace is left behind, and Zapper pleads with Hellcat to help Jen. Jen fights Man Wolf in Other Relam when Hellcat drops in, tells everyone Other Realm is inside She-Hulk's blood stream, thats why it keeps falling apart. They do science shit and the guys get back home, Hellcat and She-Hulk go their separate ways, and she-hulk kisses zapper after calling him Kid. okay. Defenders #92-101 92 Death of Captain Marvel Defenders #103-104 Captain America #268 Defenders #106-109 Contest of Champions #1, 3 Defenders #111, #116-117 Incredible Hulk #277-279 Defenders #118-122, #125 (marriage to Damon Hellstrom) 119 on the Defenders HQ on Long Island, Nighthawk tries to ride a horse but he sucks, and Valkyrie laughs. Patsy pulls up in a onvertible, Kyle tells her Val is about to get kicked off the horse, Patsy says she's doing a bad job of that and he tells her to shut up. Patsy tries to console him anyway, then they go inside and the evil mind contro lady is there with hulk under her spell. They all fight her but she gains control of them one by one. Hulk shows up to the Sanctum Sanctorum, Clea spots him and tells the Doctor. it's a trick of course and clea is taken under control, she tries to take doctor strange but he strally projects, releases Hulk and Val, her name is Yandrith? SHe somehow just ends up going crazy and falling over. theres some other weird shit going on with a robot and an elf. 120 Damon Hellstrom stumbles into a monastery. he's at odds with his personality, having just learned he really is the son of satan. But he's in love with Patsy Walker, so the priest has him stay there for a while as a monk. some time later, he speaks with another monk, who says goobye brother ominously. the Upper West Side Defenders house is woken when patsy wakes from a vision in her sleep screaming, having seen that Damon needs their help. she says her mental powers have grown and she can sense that he needs them. 3 days later, talking to the head priest Damon mentions the monk he spoke to the other day, and the head priest thinks he's off somehow. in NY, Patsy trains with Beast at the YMCA and says she's had that same dream for three nights in a row. She convinces him they need to do something, and they head off to find Val, who is lifitng weights. Some guy hits on her and she touslles him up, they all leave. Damon finds brother joshua and says he'll help him with his powers. In NYC, Patsy telepathically shows Over-Mind her dreams so he will help, he finds the location--Massachusetts. At the church, brother Joshua is having his signing in or whatever when he suddenly screams he remembers and it turns out he's the Miracle Man. He tosses all the priests off balconies, Damon is indisposed, then transforms into his Son of Satan lewk. Joshua turns the monks to dust and the two fo them fight. Miracle Man beats him, the Defenders are on their way. 121 the defenders travel in an Avengers quinjet to Damon's location. they're attacked by a number of strange giant entities, and afterwards Hank gives them all a stern talking to when he was part of the problem as well. Val basically tells him to buzz off, they move forward. As they walk, Hank asks Patsy about her mental powers, and she says she honed her mind with the energies inside all beings, and the powers are returning to her after a time being gone. The door of the church opens for them by itself so they go in and see Miracle Man. They argue among themselves about what to do, Patsy remembers him from Avengers days that he's a lunatic. He takes them to Damon, who he's turned into a statue, and snaps his fingers to make him right again. Damon fills them in on what happened here, Miracle Man whisks them all off to some island. Val and Beast bicker more, it seems that most the men don't like her because she's openly independent and stronger physically than them. They're on an island called Java, Damon says Miracle Man now has the demonic darksoul he once bore. Miracle Man is using this starving village to prive he will rule with good will, he creates paradise for them. Over-Mind thinks this will be a new age of prosperity, Val is smarter and says this will only end poorly. One man denies Miracle Man his request to heal him and he loses his shit, going all evil villain immediately. They fight him, Val gets cornered, Beast starts shit talking her again and Patsy tells him to knock it off and get his head in the game. Damon ends up making a deal with him about ruling hell together, Patsy thinks to herself that he can't because she loves him. She links with Over-Mind and they turn him into a snake. 122 The defenders and brother Joshua are back at the monastery, Joshua doesn't want his powers anymore. They agree not to hand him over to the authorities, and let the priests take care of him instead. Patsy and Daimon talk. He refers to Defenders 116 where she said she didn't love him, but she clarifies now she meant she didn't know, but now she does. She gives a cute little speech and starts to tell him she loves him, but he cuts her off. He says he's staying at the church, they start to walk away, then run into each other's arms and say they love each other. In NY the next day, the Defenders play around the house. Apparently Patsy and Daimon spent the night together, and are now back with fresh pastries for the group. Patsy announces they've decided to leave the Defenders and get married. Daimon will sell his family's land and they'll use the money to start a life in California. They're leaving today, and Val and Dolly are upset. Dolly says she doesn't trust Daimon, patsy insists he isn't the son of satan anymore. Patsy says as soon as they're settled, she'll send for her to be their maid again. Val leaves the room in a huff, ignoring Patsy's calls to come back. Elsewhere, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Namor, Wong, and Doctor Strange gather at the Sanctum, and are held at gun point by a little elf dude. Patsy and Daimon are loading up a cab to leave. Out of the cab window, she sees Val on the roof, crying. Later, val is in her room upset. SHe thinks there is little left to hold her here on Earth, excpet maybe her bf Namor. Odin's head pops in and asks her to come help out with something, and she goes. there's a bunch of stupid shit with the male members being lame. *125 little elf dude has been fucking with the Defenders hard core. Moondragon shows up, fights drunken Beast and Ice Man, then Val comes in to stop them, saying Moondragon is her guest. MD says she is a goddess of Titian and doesn't need to explain herself to anyone. the ruckus wakes housekeeper Dolly, Val tells the story of how the Avengers fought MD and Drax dies but his sacrifice made it possible to stop her. They took her to Odin for punishment, who looked in her heart and saw pure intentions, but too much power. So he gave her a headband to reign in her abilities and sent her to live with Val to learn to balance godhood and humanity. The band hurts her when she tries to touch others' minds, as it is now, and she doesn't try to hide it. Beast calls her a looney bird. Dolly announces to them Patsy called and is getting married Saturday. some villain called mad dog is going to disrupt the wedding. At the wedding, Patsy is wearing a classic big-shoulder wedding dress. Hank jokes she probably didn't look half this good marrying Buzz Baxter and she says don't bring up my ex-husband at my wedding. Outside, Mad Dog brought the Mutant Force to fight at the wedding. They burst in right when the prisest is asking for reason not to wed them, the pastor faints. Val transforms, Moondragon fights Mad Dog until the band becomes too much and then Daimon goes to fight him, but he reveals himself to PAtsy as her ex-husband, Buzz. he recounts, falsely, events of their last encounter, forces a kiss on her, grabs her by her hair, and says he's going to slash out her throat. Moondragon intervenes, though weakened by the headband. she mentally thinks to Odin that if Patsy dies due to the band, she'll pluck out his eye. Daimoni s the last hope, he knocks out Baxter. The wedding goes on with a bunch of passed out baddies in the corner. After, Beast gets Angel and Ice-Man on the Defenders with Gargoyle, Valkyrie, and Moondragon. Marvel Fanfare #20 Patsy appears in a single panel in the Sanctum Sanctorum as part of a group of the Hulk's friends, and has no lines. Defenders #148 Patsy and Damon take a wild car ride in San Francisco. They arrive at the home of Mr. Van Vliet as occult detectives, who sent the driver to get them from the airport. Inside, Beast and Gargoyle are there with him already. The man says he found an artifact somewhere here in SF and already confirmed it with Daimon, it is the Lesser grey God. there's two whole pages of them tossing a grenade around as comic rellief? A detective has bust in saying someone complained of stolen property, the Lesser Grey God. They're the Lunati? the whole scene is very confusing. Damon and Patsy agree that it is, too. idk what this is then Daimon explains the statue has the power to revert old spells, like Daimon's dark-soul and Patsy's posession. There is a shot from up stairs, they pic the lock and Daimon asks Patsy about her SHadow cloak and she says she left it in the taxi. Inside the room, Van Vliet is dead. bunch of stuff happens, at one point Patsy tells hank they're just along for the ride and have no idea whats going on. In the end, the whole thing ends up being fake and there is no Lesser Grey God. *West Coast Avengers #14-16 14 cover is the 25th anniversary border with Hawkeye. Tigra and him practice fight and chat. She ends up getting really pissed off, and the others hav to come help him. She is upset after an stransforms back into her human form. They fight some monsters and then decide they need Patsy and Damon's help. In SF, they walk downt he street talking and we get a run down of their history, and they're now occult investigators. THey meet the West Coast Avengers on their ffront stoop. Patsy itroduces herself to Mockingbird, saying she and Hawkeye make a great couple, and they introduce them to Wonder Man. In the house, Damon explains how all the demonic kings are just personalities of the same evil entitiy. He and Patsy get in their hero outfits for the gig, Hellstrom and Hellcat. Iron Man says he thought she retired, she says just from the Defenders, she says she has no reason to get a new suit, and he should know how much she wanted this one. Hellstrom transports them out of there, to where Greer and fucn Hank Pym are being held in hell or someting. They all transport in and fight, Hellcat takes on Pandemonium and does well until his demons save him and Hawkeye keeps her from falling. 15 The group is on a ship heading down the river Styx. Greer has a bit of a spat wiht Hellcat because the suit she wears was originally designed for her, Patsy defends herself and says she's put in hard years of dedicated work as a Defender and Avenger. The ship crashes through a wall, and they arrive in the world of the cat-poeple. Patsy says its another demonic realm, and Greer says the Cat Poeple aren't demons, just thought to be. Patsy takes her mask off until they learn what these cats will think of her in the suit. Damon notes Patsy is smarter than people think. The cat people assume they're mistreating Greer because she's in her "hideous" human form, she tries to explain her amulet didn't transform her back when she tried but now it works and she becomes Tigra. Patsy expresses concern to Damon since her suit was made by these cat demons, he says she's fine. They take them to thir king. there's a lot of bad talking, then some fghting and Wonder Man asks Hellcat if he should get them out of there. When Tigra doesn't kill Pandemonium, they remove the Tigra soul, then they all end up in jail. Patsy gives Greer the Hellcat suit so she can prowl the city. She confronts the king, and the other broken out avengers fight with her. Paty is fighting in her underwear. The jar breaks in the fight and the Tigra soul goes back to Greer, who doesn't want it. She bursts out of the Cat suit and become Tigra properly, clear minded with Greer at the wheel. 16 Off the golden gate bridge, Hank Pym, Hellcat, and Damon pick up Tigra in a boat. Patsy wore the hellcat suit in case she has to pull her out of the water, but she did great. They pull Tiger Shark out of the water and he calls the women bimbos, they scratch the shit out of him. They agree to do some more stuff together. At Hellstrom and Hellstrom in SF, Hellcat jokes she'll rejoin the Avengers. Damon jokes he'll break her arm if she tries, and they run upstairs for alone time. Tigra breaks up with Hank Pym because she wants different things now. He gets pissed off because she called him nice. Later, hank has an idea to stop tiger shark. the cat girls stop Whirlwind, hellcat uses her claw things to swing around. THe next day, Tigra comes by for Hank, who hasn't come down yet. *Solo Avengers #9 Hawkeye is the first story, Hellcat is the 2nd. It starts with an intro to Patsy--mother wrote a series of comics about her, lived on Titan, married the son of the devil, an avenger and defender, co-owner Hellstrom Investigations, and just authored the Hellcat Chronicles. She's out at a book promotion event tonight, thinking negative thoughts while speaking with the interviewer. Mad Dog slowly gets closer while they talk about Daimon's claim to be the son of Satan, the teams she's been on, whether she supports mutants or not, etc. She snaps at him and says this interview was meant to be about her book, about a woman finding herself in the 1980s. He moves on and they start to talk about Buzz, then Mad Dog busts in and he bits her neck, holding her by her hair. She wakes up alone with him in a warehouse, he tells her to call him Mad Dog. He slipped her into her Hellcat costume, she asks how he got out or prison--friends in high places. She asks if she'll have to kick the shit out of him again like at her wedding, he's acting like she's missing something. He says he loves her, pleads with her, she says she never loved him, he says shes lying. For some reason they're always grabbing her by her hair. He says she used to be so innocent, then she got ideas of independence and getting her own job, he kicks her when she interrupts. He said he did this for her, he loves her but now he sees she doen't love him anymore so he will kill her. She says the book was true, she never loved him, and knocks him out. While he sleeps, she admits she did love him, but didnt want to admit it because she refused to let herself remember. *Marvel Comics Presents #36 c story Hellcat comes across a mugging in the alley, fights off the attackers but it's too late, they killed the woman. She searches the bag for clues and finds the woman was a cop, then other cops show up and she flees the scene. She finds the muggers and jumps into the scene, but they grab her and get her tied up. She starts a fire to free herself and sets off the sprinkers, she gets the people out. She tells the police outside what haoppened, and a random homeless woman backs her up. She runs off into the night and the woman thinks to herself that Hellcat is more than a hero, she's one of the people. Avengers #305 When Cap says Avengers Assemble, Hellcat is one of the many to show. After his speech, Hellcat says she'll be there whenever he needs. Tigra butts in and starts an argument, weird after their last super-friendly encounter. Greer calls her the new kid, which makes just as little sense. Monica is also there, and recently depowered. shocker. Avengers Spotlight #27 Hellcat is with Moondgragon and Firebird to do some heroing in the hudson. THe Mad THinker's android hits Firebird from the water. Black Widow puts out the call for Avengers, including a now powered Monica. Hellcat and Moondragon bicker while they fight. She notes that Damon is who knows where, or else he could help. she finds the gateway is a woman, turned demon, and she fights it. She references many demon fighting and supernatural stories while she narrates and fights, showing her brains and research. The woman ends up killing herself to get the demon out of her. *Marvel Fanfare #59 B story Patsy and Daimon arrive in Centreville, NY, Patsy's hometown. Patsy notes everyone seems hostile towards them, but she's glad her aunt reached out. they are estranged. Her aunt was her business manager when she was a child star, and they drifted apart when she left that life. They kiss at the front door, and her aunt answers. He tries to introduce himself but she turns away, Patsy snaps about remembering her real life, and what they put her through as a child. They argue, Daimon stops them. They have a party with all her old friends, and she catches up with Hedy. Patsy gets defensive when Hedy jokes about freaks. That night, they get a brick thrown through their window with a note to get out of town. Some days later, they're out with friends, and Patsy starts feeling anxious again. Then some guy challenges Daimon saying Patsy is a tramp, and they fight. Patsy jumps in and helps, and then they leave. When they get back to the house, she fights with her aunt that the town has humiliated and degraded her at every turn and her aunt is no better. They tear into each other with words, until Daimon basically repeats the same thing and its all good. The rest of the visit went fine, and she does a quick interview on the local news, and everything is right with the world. There is a Marvel Romance pin-up of her and Daimon yelling at her Aunt with Hedy in the background. Hellstorm: Prince of Lies #2-3, #7, #9, #12-14 Patsy learns her husband is the actual Son of Satan, and slowly goes crazy, before killing herself to try and hurt him. 2 the end of the issue reveals Patsy is bald, drooling, and nuts locked in her room at the Hellstrom house iin Mass. *3 Isaac hears Patsy scream, and tells himself she's fine as long as Daimon is with her, right? They go over their story. Patsy turned him down when he was the true son of satan, then he got rid of his darksoul and they started a life together. They fought together, side by side, never questioning how he still had powers. WHen his powers started waning, he burned his costume, and Patsy was relieved he wasn't son of satan anymore. then Isaac came after the houekeeper Polly died, so he came to live with them. one day they find the grimoirium, then Daimon started dying. Doctor Strange says without his darksoul he will die, so Patsy uses the evil book to cast a spell. She summons his father, and puts his darksoul back in him. when he retursn, he tells her he would not have done the same in her place. 7 "insane" patsy wakes up and screams, isaac comes to her aid. she is muttering demonic things and he tells her it'll be okay, she says it won't. 9 they try to explain Patsy losing her mind by saying she saw a glimpse of the devil in his true form. She wanders around muttering devlish things and drooling. 12 oooh this is Warren Ellis, no wonder. patsy continues drooling and crooning nonsens. 13 Daimon visits patsy in her room. She's using names, now, in her gibberish. he tells isaac to transcribe tohe monologue she says so he can read it later. 14 patsy continues going on and on in her room, she seems to be aware of everything that's happenend. Damon is buys having an affair with some other lady. Patsy has been crying in her room for hours, knowing she borught her husband back for nothing. some character called DeathUrge comes and helps her commit suicide, basiclly talks her into it. It's super creepy and anti-woman. voicover says she's not a fighter anymore. k. Avengers (1998) #10 unless I'm mistaken, she appears in a frame, then as a zombie kind of. #11 the zombie avengers gain control of themselves and end up fighting for the good guys. Thunderbolts Annual 2000 the Thunderbolts bring Patsy's soul back to her body. The Thunderbolts head to hell to steal Bobbi Morse, since she died saving Hawkeye. They take a body back, but it turns out to be Patsy. The whole thing started because Daimon told Hawkeye to do it thinking it would be Bobbi, but Bobbi tricked Daimon so Hawkeye would save her friend, instead. Hawkeye says jokes on him because he never got to see his wife and daimons wants nothing to do with him. *Avengers Annual 2000 (#2) Much of the issue is narrated by Patsy. starts with Patsy in a TV interview for her book Gidget Goes to Hell, going over her story. Very reminiscent of her Solo Avengers issue, which had an interview as well. They mention how her entire life was made into a marketing campaign, and try to write off her suicide as something she did to get back at Daimon. In reality it was more like she felt like she had nothing to live for because of him and just gave up, it sucked. I guess at least they're trying to ret-con how much it sucked maybe. She was rescued from death by the Tunderbolts in Thuderbolts Annual 2000, just recently, but in reality THAT was a failed attempt at saving Bobbi Morse--or at least they saved her under the impression she was Bobbi. They also treat her suicide like something impermanent from the start, which is bad IMO. She says she was thinking of going back to school, and they surprise her with Hedy. She says she's now the head of Patsy Walker Inc., now called Patsy-Heady Ent. She says they have a gala set up for her splendid return. In the second chapter, she visits her hometown, which Hedy has turned into a theme park. PAtsy starts to notice more and more things are off, then when she gets overwhelmed with people wanting to meet her, she sees they're all demons. She runs away and changes into her costume just by thinking about it, the whole town seems to follow her. Then she realizes the whole town is possessed, and she'll need more help. the third chapter is the Avengers. Moondragon psychically reaches out to the Avengers to help Patsy, and tells them where to meet her. When they get to Centreville, Patsy walks up and apologizes, saying nothing is wrong. Wanda sees the trick and uses magic to free her from demonic possession. She and the team chats, she tells them since she's returned, she can summon her costume at will and some kind of demon sight. They go off together to the main spot of where Patsy sees the demons, they find the Sons of Serpents society. Fourth chapter is them fighting, the serpent leader summons the Salem Seven, who Wanda previously thought had died. at one point in the fight Hellcat clarifies with Moondragon that she is no longer a student. Cap and Iron Man wonder to themselves if giving Patsy the Cat suit back in the day was a bad idea, and admit it was irresponsible in the moment, but she seems to be doing so well with it, so it all worked out. Hawkeye tells Hellcat during the fight heroes like them may not be as strong as the others, but they're tricky. They're all attacked by smoke demon snakes, but Hedy comes in and knocks over a cauldron, putting an end to it. Epilogue is afterwards, not sure why they put all these chapter markings in. Patsy thanks the Avengers and they leave.
